Oboe Instrument Assembly and Care
Your band director or I will show you how to assemble your oboe. Please do not try this on your own for the first time!

Assembly:
- Put your closed case on your lap or chair.
- Open the case. Some have latches, zippers, velcro, etc.
- Grasp the top joint with your left hand and the lower joint with your right hand.
- You need to press the proper keys to lift the two bridge keys.
- Line up the bridge keys and then release the keys.
- Press the key down on the bell (if you have a key)
- Swivel and align the bridge key with the lower joint.
Instrument Care
It is important to know the proper lubricants to use on your instrument. For cork portions, such as the reed staple and joints, you need to use cork grease. Do not use vaseline.
