Bassoon or Oboe Rental or Purchase
I have a strong preference for the Fox line of bassoons and oboes. This is because of many years of experience with the other bassoons and oboes on the market.
If you wish to rent, I still recommend the Fox. They are the most stable instruments on the market with parts that are easy to obtain and made in the USA.
Renting a double reed is usually a short term solution. It is not usually a rent to buy program like other instruments. Contact the company directly to discuss options. I am happy to help you with your purchase.
Brook Mays, Williamson and McKay Music do offer rentals through a third party company, but these instruments are not recommended, as they are made in China at an unknown factory. They claim they are teacher approved and I even found my name was being used as having approved of them without my consent, but they never talked with me. The instrument would not even play.
